Automatic things pretty much covers every classical thing, that is, everything that falls within the realm of classical mechanics. The entire classical universe is an automatic thing except for the rather large complication added by quantum mechanics. Whether or not quantum mechanics is automatic is possibly still under debate. That is something that we hope to look into in this section. So in a way a major focus of this automatic things section is to ask the question "are all things automatic things?".
